02/27/2014 Another child killed by the family pit bull which the family reported was never aggressive before.

A 3-year-old girl was attacked and killed by her family’s pit bull on Monday.

Braelynn Rayne Coulter of High Point, N.C., was rushed to a hospital but succumbed to her wounds, WFMY reports.

Coulter’s mom tried to save her daughter, but the dog, who is now at an animal shelter, attacked the mother as well.

The toddler’s family released a statement to the station:

Braelynn Rayne Coulter was a beautiful, lively three year old young lady. She was full of life. She was the light of her mama and gaga’s life and the loss leaves a hole in our hearts. She was smart and vivacious and absolutely loved Dora the Explorer. She enjoyed her time in nature and going to a park was the highlight of her day. She will be missed dearly! Heaven is a little prettier today with Braelynn there!

The family said their pet had never been aggressive before.

But a neighbor told the News & Record that, months ago, the pit bull had broken out of a fence and attacked another neighbor’s dog.

“The neighbor was taking her dog for a walk,” Katherine Dixon said. “Another neighbor came out to help. That’s what put us on high alert about the dogs.”

The dog that killed Coulter will be held at the Guilford County Animal Shelter for the next few days until police finish their investigation and determine the pit bull’s fate, according to WGHP.

Pit bull advocates have argued that the breed isn’t necessarily prone to violence, but rather, the dogs are sought after disproportionately by bad owners who train them to be aggressive and vicious.

A 2-year-old boy has died after being attacked by his family’s pit bull.

The attack happened on Sierra Trail in the Wexford subdivision Wednesday afternoon. Neighbors who tried to help the boy’s mother in the moments after the attack described the scene inside the home.

“It was like a horror movie. It was like something I’ve never seen before,” said one woman who asked to remain anonymous. “We’re traumatized. The images are still in our minds. I can still see the baby.”

Fulton County police said the boy’s mother went to the bathroom and returned to find her child dead.

Police said the family had the dog for eight years.

According to neighbors, the boy’s father was at work and rushed home when he learned about the attack. Police said he was so distraught that officers had to restrain him at one point.

Neighbor Joseph Messam said he will never forget what he saw and heard.

“I heard the mama rolling around out there screaming on the ground and neighbors came and we tried to see what we can do, but I stayed back to look and I saw all the blood on her arms,” said Messam.

That’s when he knew something terrible had happened.

“‘The dog killed the baby! The dog killed the baby!’ That’s what I heard her say,” said Messam.

Neighbors put together a vigil outside of the family’s home Wednesday night.

Officers from Fulton County Animal Services, who took the brown pit bull away, will test the dog and decide whether to euthanize it.

  2. As much of a pain in the ass my dads yellow labrador is….if a mauler were to ever attack him, I would gladly support the death of a mauler. At least Labradors in the right hands and trained properly can become decent dogs. Now that pitbulls are being mixed with every breed, the gentle of the labrador is going to slowly vanish… is awful.

  3. This is so sick man, so sick. trust me my heart cries out for these people. i wish they never suffer such a fate again. no one does. when i was young i used to wonder why humans are so feeble and why cant we fight bck against such vermin. i wanted to take biotechnology as a subject in a bid to increase human strenght through genetic manipulation, but fate has kept me from going thru that path. i am a fanatical philanthropist, as i wud define it. from india.

  4. These assholes tried to give their pitty away last year. They were unsuccessful. In the meantime it attacked one child and killed another in Aug 2016. Yet they were trying to gift it to some unfortunate family because it was “lovable and goofy”. Buyer Beware!

“A Facebook post by Left Eye’s owner indicates she tried to get rid of the dog last year. She wrote: “I need 2 find this goofy lovable dog a good loving home.”

  5. man i dont have a bank account yet. i wud have given a thousand dollars to this grieving family. shit man… this is so sick

Pit bulls have been banned in the City of Estherville since 1989 yet 2 pit nutters have been non compliant for at least a year stating their beasts are “emotional support dogs”. In April the beasts violently aggressed and the city deemed them to be dangerous animals. Gone.

Lastly, someone has finally had the spine to publically distinguish the difference between a service dog and an emotional support dog according to the ADA. Bravo.

    This is all very encouraging.

  7. All of these are wretched. I hate dogs, but I absolutely despise pits. A friend asked me to watch his daughter one day and I obliged, he also asked if I would watch his pit that stands eye level with no children. Heck. No. Sorry I don’t believe the hype around bad owners. They’re bad dogs. Point blank.
